We’re not really strangers

There are many things in this world that aren't measured with or against love. Even when love is what lies at the center of it all. The thing is that 'love' is often brought down and weighed down by the most conventional definition of it. It's learned, taught, and passed down concepts.

There are much larger in this universe and often we get so lost in it all that we forget that life's got more to offer than just heartbreaks. There is love in places you don't expect to find it, in places you don't always see it, and in places that you thought you had left long ago. It all happens unexpectedly.

Sure, it's not all black and white... it never really is, But the love remains. It stays. You might not always wish to revisit it, nor might you think that you want that kind of love again, but the truth of the matter is that it's embedded.

People say that grief is just love that has no other place to go than it's lost. It's easier to place that grief when the one you love has passed on. Grieving someone who's still alive, that's a whole other story. Your grief is still just love that you don't know where to put down. But so is your longing, desire, the feeling you get in the middle of the night when you remember what it felt to be with them, how they felt like. It's all still love. Love that no longer feels like it has a home or a belonging.

Love is like waiting. Like Being patient. Its those silent moments in between that you really scream, "I'd rather do this next thing with you than without you because I love you, so I'll wait for you as long as it takes."

There are things in this world worth waiting for. A sunset that you know will explode in shades of pink and orange. The first scent of the wet soil brings the first rain of the season. The dream you've had since you were 15 coming true. Watching city lights from an airplane. Achieving that feeling of being exactly where you wanted to be in life. That feeling when you realize what all those years of hurt and struggling were actually for. That feeling of knowing who you truly are.

And then, there are people in this world that are worth waiting for. The kind that remembers your favorite, flowers, that slows down while walking so you can catch up. The ones who understand your pain, the ones who share it and the ones who relieve it. The people who send you new music, the ones who communicate with you through lyrics, who know what to hear in your silence when you don't have any words left. There are people in this world worth waiting for because the way life works, you might not always move at the same pace. But if you're patient enough, you might get to reach the end together.

All the transience in this world, and all of the world's impermanence, could never make me doubt that you are the one I would want to stay with.

I’m amazed sometimes at how the human race has never been as easy to reach as it is now, and yet connections fade twice as fast as they are made.

Granted, not everyone can make it to the epilogue, but there are far too many who become mere references, their entire part in our life summarised into one sentence.

The hardest goodbyes are the ones that come without much acknowledgment. One day you know everything there is to know about them and the next you don't even remember the version of yourself that knew them so intimately.

Love is about staying. It's not always easy. It's not always wise. It's not always meant to be. But sometimes, it is. I am a huge believer when it comes to reincarnation. And I do believe that there are some people we meet in this lifetime that make us wish for their presence and company in every lifetime that follows. Love is about staying. Staying when time moves so fast it gives you a splash, but when you look around and spot them, it's like nothing has changed. Of course, everything is different now. You're not the same. They had some life-altering experiences, as did you, but you sit down and you talk and in that moment, it's like the world has stopped. The earth could continue rotating on its axis, but you couldn't tell if today was any different from all those years ago when you first met them. Love is watching them go through everything life has to offer and accepting that while everything about them might change, the way they make you feel, that's what love is worth staying for.

There are far too many people in this world, but only a few that strike your soul in a way nobody else could. Staying isn't always easy. But for those few people, leave your door unlocked, and keep a souvenir. Tell them you'll see them again, and when you do, stay a little longer.

I have found that as much as the word ‘love’ is uttered, the feeling is confessed and reassured. It's even more so missed, waited too long for, simply not felt enough, and not said enough. In my opinion, be loud with it. It's scary initially and you will get hurt more times than you could count. You'll lose the energy for it after a while, so will you lose yourself with it? But you'll also ultimately find that it is quite often the path to coming back, to yourself, to this present world. There is freedom in being carefree with your love, in being open with it. The secret is that you could never run out of it. There is none to save for later because later might never come, might be too late, might be too far away.

All that is said in this world, how wonderful would it be if we were louder in our kindness, in our love, in our empathy? There is no weakness in being soft. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to wake up every day and not become what hurt you, what stabbed you in the back, back then.

Hi, Thanks for stopping by!

Hello and welcome to The Art of Words. The idea behind this blog runs a long line of documenting my journey the experiences I gained so far, and turning them into writing. A fast-paced world, a girl with hopes and dreams, and a site that documents it all - the good, the bad, the messy, and a bit of everything in between.

Let the posts come to you.
